Meditation is a practice in which an individual uses a technique – such as mindfulness, or focusing the mind on a particular object, thought, or activity – to train attention and awareness, and achieve a mentally clear and emotionally calm and stable state.
Brought to you in partnership with The Joy Club, join yoga instructor and meditation specialist Natasha Arcoleo as she guides you through a meditation to reset and recalibrate the mind, body and soul. It's 20 minutes long, and we recommend it's a great way to start your day, or perhaps take a pause during a stressful or busy period in your day.
There are many benefits to meditation, including reduced stress and anxiety, lower blood pressure (and the many health benefits as a result), control of chronic pain, relief from depression, improved sleep, increased attention span, and a general feeling of wellbeing. It can even help stablise memory.
A study published by the National Academy of Sciences says there is an indication that meditation appears to suppress damaging processes in the body while boosting cortisol levels, which helps the function of the immune system. This can help treat various inflammatory conditions.
So why not take 20 minutes today, to get comfortable and listen to guided meditation with Natasha. You may even decide to make it a daily ritual.
